A Great Marketing Lesson from the JV Queen
September 18th, 2007It has been awhile since I last posted on my blog. I will try to post more often.
Something happened yesterday night that pleasantly surprised me.
In fact it was much more than that. It left me feeling ten feet tall and extremely happy.
Almost a month ago, I emailed my list about one of the most viral sites ever.
The site was 117 self-improvement gifts
I even made a referral sale from their one time offers.
The site is managed by Gina Gaudio-Graves and Henry Gold.
If you don’t know Gina’s inspiring story yet, I urge you to go to the above website and and look around and read her personal story.
It will motivate you like a Tony Robbins Seminar.
Gina has come from extreme adversity to a flourishing online business.
Those who know her affectionately call her the “JV Queen”, because of her ability to create huge and profitable JV partnerships.
Anyways…
Time passed.
Days later I wrote to their help desk asking when they would send me the commissions I had made.
They said they would send the payment by email around September 12th.
September 12th came around and nothing.
I wrote them back again and got no answer.
Then late last night (at around 3am) I was watching a movie on my computer when I got the nudge to visit the 117 self-improvement gifts website.
I saw that there was a contact number. Thinking that it was their help-desk number, I decided to give them a call.
You won’t believe who picked up the phone.
It was Gina Gaudio-Graves.
Now, you have to realise that we have never met or talked to each other before.
I asked her what time it was.
She told me it was around 4am.
I apologised to her and let her know that I didn’t know I was calling her on a personal number.
She told me it was ok. She was busy working on a presentation for an upcoming tele-seminar.
Gina then spent the next 10 minutes talking to me about marketing and giving me valuable advice.
I was absolutely amazed by this.
Not many successful marketers give out their personal numbers like this. Let alone dispense free advice when they could easily charge you for it.
Gina explained that she enjoyed keeping in touch with her customers.
The whole time you could feel that she is very humble and down to earth despite her enormous success.
She was extremely friendly and had a great personality.
There is a great marketing lesson in this.
For one thing she keeps in touch with her customers to know exactly what they want. In this way, she can create the right kind of products for them.
This creates a win-win situation.
Second, the fact that she was giving me (a total stranger) valuable marketing tips lets me know that she is someone that provides value to people.
And she wasn’t even expecting anything in return.
When you provide value, people will rush towards you to spend their money on you and your products.
The law of reciprocity is involved here.
The more good that you give to others, the more it will come back to you multiplied.
That’s a universal law!
Go ahead and check out her website (she has many others, just google her).
